A Factor of Travel

catching someone in an “imperfect” moment
but then a hot woman lady jogger, she goes by,
excites the imagination.
the phone rings; someone wants
to put you in jail, and says, “I’m a bitch.”

stop screwing with me and start paying me back
a factor of travel a large man launching out of a tiny clown car
I climbed to the roof to watch the light show
to UFOs some say NO but you never know
and now look, alas, a goddamn light show

I buy books before food and eat at Food Not Bombs
we should wage another war
call it the war on cancer
a man slides up to the nick nacks in a little dance
shuffles away, goodbye you condiments

every delicate possible break sends worry
down the spine
time to celebrate another homecoming arrival
all adventure holds mileage
even getting somewhere fast
the trip home seems like forever

a life trying to escape from Witch Mountain
watching girls twirl their hair
everything that I have tried to say
to a distant past
faces on the crowds who are going to stay
then go away
to houses of yellow light
the distant darkness
a hand trying to snatch you
back into it
all dressed in black
I feel grey malfunction
blue left leg draped
out of the microwave
beach prison
with pleasant view
stay stuck and don’t move
the mountain view
baked and abused
slide your half pint
in front of the great tube

I resolve to write more, and say more.
More importantly, to put more heart into
the things I say, which is what, I, and
you, owe right on back to me and you.

You can’t stop a comet on its path toward the Earth.
You have to move Earth.

The Boys of Summer

getting along doesn’t
work any more
a storm has come
and frayed the wires
the boys of summer stumble
into this old
empty house breaking
every room to pieces
the house that
lost its heart before
perhaps they were born
the house that was left empty
while they were collecting
insects in jars

Thanks for Your Support…

Welcome to my new readers!

Getting stronger. It’s a balancing act. It’s look at me time, tie a knot. Not a long way but far to go. Forego the process. They let her go. Sly box. Halo effect. Day to day survival. Watch that car. Work, hop on one foot on an off day. Wait willingly. Wish on a star. Wish on a sports car. Wish a whistle blowing out windows of cop car. Wish on a throwing star. Poison darts. Fake ass art cars. Thanks for your support, now watch me teleport.

What Do You Want?

what do you want
creek eye-s
hurt ouch pain
same it’s
day pile
what they say is shit
wanna beat them
with sticks
bag of rocks
nightmare tight fists
what do you want
I said
hard hearted beat down
some sorries won’t do
hope they’ll forgive you

what from
life do you really want
wish I weren’t between
the rock and a wall
almost rather’d be
starving than to see
their faces again

boss industries
a way
a way out of here
do what you can
avoid harsh words
best you can
seek some sort of divinity
what you know is what’s already
been given to you in your
own unique situation
like you are God’s eyes
taking in the sights
but still shutting at night
at bed time
looking within

Notes, all over the place

new me old me same me crazy me normal me lazy me hyper me agitated me lonely me angry me tired me laughing me joking me smart ass me biking me writing me reading me walking me exercising me designing me talking me quiet me cooking me eating me watching me wishing me breaking wishbone me rebuilding me recycling me meditating me mentioning me getting me understanding me patient me trying me

all the layers of me. lightning strikes a tree, branch, a trunk, the tree, finished. they rev a loud, electric saw. neighbors turn the volume up on their TVs so they can hear.

solitude hunt through
poem attitude
walk that narrow path
quest for quietude
with your better half

drop the kids off
get a note back
fighting on the playground
not permissible
don’t know what you’ve been
teaching them at home
but there’s no excuse for that
just a warning for now
later this could warrant
more drastic acts

I “blooped” back into material existence
the sea of suffering
never to be seen again

the sun is so bright
the seeds of enjoyment
are here
a light breeze
Kirk says it
feels like California weather
’cept that their air feels more
“soft, powdery”
mic check mic check
the mic is up nice and loud these days
no use screaming into it
if you dont want to anyway

keep your hand out of
the light switch the fingers
the forks the knives they
wanna sneak away from whatever it was
the mother the father the grandfather
were all saying earlier
just what is the harm
in there?
why ain’t this a good place
for children?
what makes you think
I wanted to be a child
for so long anyway?
children unknowingly seek grander
perspective and look up to adults
they want to be raised by the wiser souls
even though it’s not in their vocabulary
when they’re older their role models shift
because for a little while
a small few of us can come across looking cool
doing all the same things all the rest of us are doing
walking standing shitting in a bowl putting on garments taking them back off holding our breath talking to girls thinking about the museum asking for a Nintendo from dad because we wanna build our own tracks in Excite Bike or shoot ducks out of the sky but not the dog that runs and catches them for us, he’s cool, he’s Grade A.
