The Minutes

the minutes don’t
add up
the way I want them to

my time to shine/write, write

ahem, morn mourning
coffee again rises the rising Sun
thanx for that dot dot dot
hefty
weight

plazas fill up with cars
I finally get around
to watching the presidential
debates what a farcical event that
turns out to be
“a lot of hard work we have
ahead of us to save this
collapsing economy” they say
but they’re going to
introduce a new “package”
oh, another?
aha! let’s look!

I love even the trees
don’t wanna kill anything
or hate anybody
I have to avoid some crowds
leeches of dreams attach
to my body
now more than ever
pull them off and recount
the thoughts of day and night

in hindu times they say
whistling pierces the ether
some song playing here
in the coffee shop
kicks in with this dude
whistling like it’s
the last day of his life—
I know it does indeed
break my concentration

I’m about to go face something
and I’ve changed my mind,
I do want to
be wished well

and for this one
may need a little luck, too
