mind off of work

letting the world
know I
have a life
outside
of work…
a coffee
poem chopped
in half
by hunger
and a grumble
grumble
for Thai food
the new
opening
a spot where
you enter
and have
to pinch
yourself
thinking maybe
you’re not in
Roanoke
anymore

sun that comes
in heavy shifts
across to the other
side of the street
giving me a break

a friend and I are
swapping comics
Invisibles, Transmet
& 100 Bullets
hours upon
hours of reading

I wonder
who it
will turn us into
if we will create our
own origami time machine
and get
the hell out of here
